Lack of Joy

The lack of Joy seems to be an epidemic these days.  More and more people as a whole are busy complaining about things they don't have and how horrible their life is because of things that don't really matter.  In Psalms 118:24 we are told that "This is the day that the Lord has made; Let us rejoice and be glad in it".  As that is an easy statement to make, it is not always the easiest to do.  As with any ailment for our body we need some medicine to help us with this illness.  Proverbs 17:22 says that "A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones".

So where does a cheerful heart come from?  It comes from positive thinking about everything that you do.  This is something that takes faith in the lord along with lots of practice.  Have you ever met someone who always seems happy?  If so pay attention to how they react when you say hello.  They will first look at you and smile, and say hello.  The second thing that will generally happen is they will either ask how you are doing or say something wonderful about you like, "your hair looks fantastic".  These two things may seem like normal generalistic conversation, however they are little pieces that can help make a positive light shine in your heart.  Now lets flip this and imagine someone who always in an odd mood.  When they tell you Hello, its usually a short hi, with some glazed look.  How does that make you feel?

Conversation Starters
  • Now have you ever had a conversation with your self?
  • Do you find yourself thinking about yourself and start projecting positive or negative things?
  • Do you find joy in making others happy?

Things to try
  • Think about positive pieces of your life and give yourself encouragement.
  • Exercise your mouth and everywhere you go try to smile.
  • Try to give at least 3 people a day a complement.
